Solar Power

We have installed Solar Power at the factory which will significantly reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from our operations.

CARBON NEUTRAL MANUFACTURER

Fusion Clothing has achieved Carbon Neutrality under the United Nations Climate Neutral Now programme, with the assistance of One Carbon World, one of their 17 Global Resource Partners. Climate Neutral Now is an initiative launched by the UN Climate Change in 2015, aiming at encouraging and supporting all levels of society to take climate action to achieve a climate neutral world by mid-century.

Fusion Clothing has fully offset its Scope 1 – Direct Green House Gas (GHG) and Scope 2 – Indirect GHG Emissions. For Scope 3 Indirect emissions, emissions as a result of air travel for business purposes by management/staff have been offset. The period for calculating emissions was 12 months ending 30th June 2019. The emissions have been offset using carbon credits through the UN Clean Development Mechanism from a Wind Power Project in Maharashtra, India as well as and a re-forestation project in Uruguay, South America which is turning degraded former agricultural land into forest, and supporting livelihoods of local communities.

Accordingly, we have been awarded the Carbon Neutral Gold Standard by One Carbon World.

In addition to the above Verified Carbon Standard projects, Fusion has also been contributing to local reforestation projects with the help of Grow-Trees.com:
1. Trees for Forests & Wildlife, Sitamata Wildlife Sanctuary, Rajasthan, India
2. Trees for Forests & Wildlife, Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary, Rajasthan, India
3. Trees for Holy Environs, Jamnagar, Gujarat, India
4. Trees for Tigers, Sariska Tiger Reserve, Rajasthan, India
5. Trees for Tigers, Sundarbans National Park, West Bengal, India.

Totally, Fusion has planted 2415 trees in these 5 locations, resulting in annual carbon sequestration of 48,300 kgs per year and 197 workdays created for local communities in the vicinity of the projects.

life cycle analysis

organic cotton

A Textile Exchange Study indicates that organically grown cotton has the following potential impact savings (per 1,000kg Cotton Fiber) over conventional cotton :
1.  46 percent reduced global warming potential
2.  70 percent reduced acidification potential
3.  26 percent reduced eutrophication potential (soil erosion)
4.  91 percent reduced blue water consumption
5.  62 percent reduced primary energy demand (non-renewable)

RECYCLED POLYESTER

A study by an independent Dutch research organisation TNO, Utrecht (Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research) shows a reduction of approximately 80% in the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of recycled polyester versus virgin polyester. GWP is a characterisation model developed by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) aimed at measuring the greenhouse effect caused by CO2 emissions also known as carbon footprint.

Furthermore, the LCA also shows a very significant reduction in the Non Renewable Energy Use (NREU) figure

LENZING FIBERS – MODAL & TENCEL (LYOCELL)

Tencel and Modal are found to have a considerably lower Global Warming Potential than conventional cotton and fossil-fuel based virgin polyester, as per graph attached

Tencel, the newest, third generation fibre from Lenzing is the most sustainable man-made fibre. At the end of its life cycle, these fibers are compostable, meaning that the materials are used to provide even more of a surplus of energy.

Sustainable hangtags: Fusion Clothing provides the option to clients to use hangtags made from paper that is derived from recycled organic cotton cutting waste. The paper is dried using natural solar energy, without using steam or electrical boilers as energy source.

We also use sustainable, oxo-biodegradable packaging for our clothing.
